Uncle Sam,
Last night after you had a couple of cocktails, you called to tell me how much you hated Trump. When I asked you why, you gave me a rambling answer. Here is what you said, let me know if you feel the same way today.

When I hear the name President Trump, I feel a sense of ill will toward him, even hatred.
I never met him. I don’t know anyone who has. He never harmed me or any one I know. I don’t have a personal reason to hate him. I see him on television, and he comes across as an exaggerating braggart. I have acquaintances with worse personalities who I dislike but I don’t hate them or wish them harm.
If I am not hating Trump, the man. Then I must be hating his beliefs. I can’t hate him for loving his children, or for wanting to protect and provide for his family. I can’t hate him for supporting his friends and neighbors, and for loving his country.
Maybe I hate him for his stand on abortion, immigration, or climate change, but those are issues that can only be resolved by congress. Maybe I hate him because I am being told every day by friends, celebrities, and nearly everyone on mainstream media, “if you don’t hate Trump there’s something wrong with you; you’re one of them”.
I’m too old to be influenced by peer pressure; aren’t I?
