Over the last 50 years, I have noticed many small businesses merging to capture local area markets. Then these growing companies are acquired by larger companies and they in turn are acquired by even larger companies.
I have also noticed the reverse; large companies divesting themselves of divisions and divisions selling off acquired companies.
I have also seen the federal government break apart companies that try to monopolize markets.
This birth, death, and rebirth of companies is the lifeblood of American capitalism.
