The U.S. is a Democratic Republic. Its government is a constitutional marriage between democratic principles and a republic structure.
The marriage is going through a rough patch. It’s two major political parties, which ironically call themselves “Democrats” and “Republicans”, are behaving like an unhappy couple going through a divorce.
Both sides have lawyered-up, adding fuel to the fire. Hopes for a peaceful resolution are diminishing while billable hours are increasing. Media members know conflict draws a crowd, so they have placed their biased thumbs on the scales.
It is a strange time, both parties proclaim the U.S. has the best form of government the world has ever known. Meanwhile, party leaders are trying to tear us apart.
