What if the national government uses its power over elections in an unfair way?
Elections must stay fair because they decide who has power. They affect the whole country, and they must be trusted by the people. If people do not trust elections, the system breaks down.
It will not be easy for the national government to abuse election rules because many different states are involved in elections. Different groups watch and monitor the process, and the Constitution limits government power. So, it is hard for one group to control everything unfairly.
States are not powerless. They still run many parts of elections. They have their own governments and laws that represent local interests. They help balance national power.
When power is spread out among many people and states, it is harder for corruption to happen. More people involved means more oversight, and more oversight means more fairness. Larger systems can actually protect fairness.
The Constitution is built to avoid abuse. Power is divided. Different groups can check each other, and no single group can easily take over elections. This helps prevent unfair control.
