Why do we need a Senate at all—couldn’t the House of Representatives do everything?
The Senate is needed. It reviews laws more carefully than the House. It slows down decisions, so mistakes are less likely. It provides experience and stability, and it helps balance the more fast-moving House.
The House is closer to the people, which is good, but people’s opinions can change quickly, emotions can influence decisions, and important laws might be rushed. Another chamber is needed to slow things down.
A strong country needs stability because: laws should not change too often, people need to trust government decisions, and the country must avoid chaos or confusion. The Senate helps provide that stability.
The Senate acts like a safeguard. It reviews laws passed by the House. It can stop bad or rushed decisions, and it helps make sure laws are well thought out. This protects the public from mistakes.
Having both the House and Senate is better because: the House is fast and responsive, while the Senate is careful and steady. Together they balance each other creating a stronger government.
