What happens when states become unsafe and need to defend themselves like separate countries.
Small countries often feel scared because: They don’t have enough soldiers, they don’t have enough money to defend themselves, they are close to other countries that might attack, they don’t fully trust their neighbors, and they feel like they must always be ready for war.
If each state becomes its own country, they would likely: Build armies to protect themselves, spend lots of money on defense instead of schools or trade, become suspicious of each other, be more likely to argue or fight. Even if no one wanted war, having many separate armies makes conflict more likely.
If the states stay together: There will be one national defense system that protects everyone. The country can protect itself better. The states won’t need their own armies and the money saved can be used more efficiently.
A united country would: Stop states from fearing each other. Reduce the chance of conflict. Create one clear system for defense. Help keep peace inside the country. Make America both safer and less likely to fight itself.
