What if federal courts become too powerful or unfair?
Courts are powerful, but they are not unlimited. They can only decide cases that come to them. They cannot make laws (Congress does that). They cannot enforce laws (the President does that). They only interpret the Constitution and laws. Courts are part of a system with shared power.
Judges do not control: the army. Judges do not control money or taxes. Judges do not write new laws. Judges only interpret laws when disputes arise. This keeps the judiciary from becoming too powerful.
The courts rely on Congress to create laws, the President to enforce decisions and the Constitution to define their authority. Courts cannot act alone.
The system is safe because power is divided into branches, each branch checks the others, no single branch can control everything. The Constitution sets clear boundaries to stop any branch from becoming dominant.
Courts are trusted because, Judges are independent. They are trained to interpret laws fairly. They are not supposed to be influenced by politics, and their role is limited and focused. This helps maintain public trust.
