A Political Game

Have you noticed your elected representatives keep their emotions in check? They only display emotion to emphasize  a point. Most are trained lawyers who have learned to view their occupation as a game played out in a court room.

Lawyers represent real people, corporations, and governments; but they don’t have any real skin in the game (excluding contingency cases).

When lawyers lose cases, they may lose some of their reputation and earning potential; but they don’t lose their kinship with the opposing counsel or a seat at the legal table. Their clients on the other hand, sometimes lose their livelihood or even their lives.

Have you noticed congress is embroiled in a very dirty, no holds barred, two-party game, and all the experienced players are behaving like blameless lawyers with no real skin in the game? Winning the political game has become more important than solving the nation’s problems and doing the people’s business.

I know we disagree on many issues; but I think we can both say, “We are being ignored by gangs of self-serving career legislators who have chosen party loyalty over our nation’s welfare;  it is time to combine forces and clean the House and the Senate.”
