Will a strong national government take away power from the states?
State governments are best at handling local things like: Area schools, local roads, town rules, local police, and community needs. These things are close to the people, so states understand them better.
The national government focuses on bigger issues that affect everyone, like: Defense (protecting the country), foreign relationships with other countries, national trade rules, large laws that affect all states, and problems too big for one state to handle alone.
The national government will not try to control every small detail of people’s lives. It is too far away from local communities to handle everyday local problems. States are already strong in local matters and will retain a lot of important power.
States do not need to fear losing their importance because: They still manage most local issues and have their own leaders. The national government only handles shared national needs. So, both levels of government can exist together.
The states are empowered to handle local responsibilities, while the national government handles national responsibilities. This system helps avoid confusion and keeps things organized.
If both levels of government do their proper jobs: Laws are clearer, problems are solved at the right level, people get both local and national protection, and power is shared instead of concentrated in one place. This creates stability and order..
